Volvo recently revealed its first fully electric vehicle, the XC40 Recharge. It rides on Volvo's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, which was designed from the get-go to support full electrification
  • Drive: All-Wheel Drive
  • Battery: 78 kWh
  • Range: 248 miles (400 kilometers) WLTP
  • Horsepower: 402 hp
  • Torque: 442 lb-ft
  • 0-60: 4.7 seconds
  • Towing Capacity: 2,000 pounds
  • Battery charge: 10-80% in 40 minutes with a fast charger
  • Google Maps. Google Assistant. Google Play Store are embedded in the infotainment screen
  • Sale Date: Late 2020

That's nice, for a car. Not what I would consider "competition" though, since Rivian has no presence in the car market.

Do you think Rivian should make a car this size though? because I'd like to see them do it.
Personally, I think there are too many players in that segment. No hurry for Rivian to make their entry.

I don't think Rivian should rush into the small SUV segment either, but I do think it's going to be their best option after the R1T and R1S.

That's very fair, but if Rivian takes their time I think they could have a winner.

I believe Rivian agrees with you ... in general. While attending the Normal event listening in on a conversation with a Rivian team lead he hinted at the next set of models they would produce would include smaller versions the R1S and R1T.

A smaller version of the R1T would be very interesting to see. I guess it would be similar size to the likes of the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado and the Toyota Tacoma.
