Formed with the help of Formula E, there will be a new off-road racing series called Extreme E that will start in 2021.

It was announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and is being called "a radical new racing series that will highlight the impact of climate change on some of the world’s most fragile ecosystems and promote the adoption of electric vehicles to help preserve the environment."

One of the racing SUVs for Extreme E, the Odyssey 21 was also introduced and he numbers are impressive. Producing 542 hp, it can go from 0-62 in 4.5 seconds at gradients of up to 130%. It's being made by Willaims Advanced Engineering.

With all the crazy numbers the R1S and R1T and expected to have as production cars, does anyone think it's possible Rivian creates its own race trucks and compete in Extreme E? I'd like to think it's a possibility

Extreme E has revealed some more information about its vehicles and the competition itself.

- Extreme E teams can create their own body panels to somewhat resemble production SUVs.
- Teams will be able to create their own powertrains.
- Each SUV will run on specifically designed Continental tires
- Extreme E will take place in various locations impacted by climate change. So far there are 5 race locations that have been announced: the Arctic, a glacier from the Himalayas, a deforested part of the Amazon forest, the Sahara desert, and an island in the Pacific.
- Each course will be six miles long and will have group stages and then knock-out tournament rounds.

I get the point they're trying to make with their race location choices, but isn't it going to disrupt those areas even more by putting together a race course there?

Rivian can but at that point with all the changes to come, it will be far off from what we'll get.

Jerry can idea should stick however and can be a great marketing tool.

The Jerry can would be a great idea as a limited collectors item. If Rivian was to build a race truck I don't mind it looking completely different from the production models. That's usually how it works with regular race cars anyway.
