Alpine Armoring has announced that they have made the first armored R1R!
Per the pictures above they are the OEM pirelli’s. Interested to know if they just added ballistic glass and possibly door panels and what they did to the under side to protect the battery. And where are the videos of them blasting one up? With a true certified armored they need to test their build. Like this. This might just be the first Rivian with run flat tires because it's what armoring companies typically add to builds like this.
I’m very familiar with land cruisers. A ~6k lb $90k (USD) 200 series goes to ~9500 lbs and ~$225-275k. So I’m guessing goes up by ~3500 lbs and $150-200k, probably the higher end of cost since this is the first.So….how much does a 8000lbRivian with armor weigh?
Sounds like an effective way at preventing a coal roal attack.I'd get a GE M134 to go with it too. Perfect for an ev!
Isn't that what the gear tunnel + gear shuttle is for? Remotely controlled of course for safety reasons.I'd get a GE M134 to go with it too. Perfect for an ev!
Sounds like something that would be great to sync up with autopilot once all the moving parts are in.Isn't that what the gear tunnel + gear shuttle is for? Remotely controlled of course for safety reasons.
Given the load limitations, they can't add much more than 1,300 lbs unless they do something dramatic to the suspension...voiding all warranties, for sure. I've looked at loading stickers for most tire configurations. Here's mine with off-road protection and spare:I’m very familiar with land cruisers. I can’t imagine they did much armor other than glass and possibly door panels to stay within the stock weight limits. This is typical for all tires with a spare and off road undercladding. The theoretical limit is 1760 lbs. Never seen anything close to t View attachment 6108 hat. Those cartel members better be skinny.
