Battery pre-conditioning? Seems important. I search the owners' manual for this and found nothing. My error? Please enlighten me.

Battery conditioning is only useful when trying to optimize Level 3 DCFC charging.

To precondition your battery, set a Level 3 DCFC as your destination in your vehicle’s Rivian navigation app. The vehicle will know you are going to a fast charger and automatically precondition your battery as you travel to the charger.

A related question as I've never used a public charger in the 7 months I've had my R1T: If you use the Rivian Nav system to lay out a longer trip requiring charging stops, will it populate the route with suggested chargers & locations, preconditioning the battery for the stops, with no additional user input needed?
Yes.

But you may not like the specific stops recommended by the Nav, @Yossarian. I haven't figured out how to get the Nav to change its mind. I have to manually find my PREFERRED next DCFC on the Nav's map, then tap it to get a route as @JSimpson suggests.

ABRP gives more choices. PlugShare gives the most choices and the most information.

Very best wishes!
I think in that use case, you might need to specify your preferred charger for each charging leg of the trip rather than letting the nav app route the entire trip.

I agree that it should allow users to drag the route to different roads or select alternative charging stops. These little quirks show how underdeveloped the app is. Hopefully, they will quickly add features like this to make it more robust.
