Look what my wife spotted when we were rolling down the street toward the grocery store. It's in Bellevue, WA right across the street from the only Chick-fil-A in the entire region. This street is going to be extremely popular when Rivian opens up. Of course we had to stop to check it out. That's my wife leaning on our current Bolt EV we named Dory. We can't wait to pick up our R1S (Bruce) here.

Welcome to the forum @Torqueboy! The building looks like it's pretty much finished. How long have you and your wife owned the Bolt?

Well, that's even closer to me. Though I would prefer to go to Bellevue for everything. Belltown is not a great area for a car dealer. Nowhere to park, and bad traffic.

Yeah I don’t know what the parking situation will be like in Seattle but here’s the link to the article with the location

Technically we wont need to go to the service center since Rivian said they will come to you and even bring a loaner if needed.

True, but often in a place like Seattle there's no room for a mobile mechanic to operate. Much of Seattle is street parking only. I can see an established repair center being valuable.

I also drove past it on Tuesday :). From what I have read, that will just be a service center. The retail location has been spotted in the Seattle Belltown neighborhood.
When initially announced, the Seattle location was supposed to be more of a showroom and the Bellevue location a service center. However, I heard the Seattle location is being scraped. Not sure if its being located someplace else or its just going to be Bellevue. Someone posted pictures from inside the Bellevue location and it was definitely a service center, had equipment for that purpose and a nice looking waiting room. It'll be interesting if it turns into a showroom as well.

I'd actually like that. Bellevue is a much more suitable city for Rivian at this point.

Interesting Info - I hope it stays at the Army Surplus store on 1st as I live 2 blocks away, but it is a small building with no dedicated parking. We will see!

Has anyone been able to arrange a test drive yet??

Is that elevated, light-rail behind and above the Rivian facility? Electrified. How appropriate.

No, unless you work for Rivian. They are opening their Drive program in August which should allow test drives but likely those will be reserved for pre-order holders who are getting close to delivery. It may be difficult to get a test drive until next year unless you are a pre-order holder with a delivery happening soon.

It looks like the dealership won't be there after all. All of the construction permits were withdrawn with a refund requested according to Seattle's Permit Portal.

On the refund request paperwork it simply says, "Project was cancelled."

Thanks for catching that! I'm not sure what to think though. My wishful thinking says they just found a better location, but we'll see. The Bellevue service center looks like it is ready to go and just waiting for vehicles, but I kind of doubt they would use it as a showroom. It just doesn't seem to fit with the image they have talked about of other showrooms in major metro areas. They do not have their showrooms in the middle of a bunch of other traditional auto dealers (i.e. Bellevue auto row).

Welcome to the forum @Jomenn

Which Rivian model and spec did you get?
How often do you see yourself charging at the dealership or other public stations versus at home?
R1S launch - no idea when I am getting it. I am planning to explore options to get the home charging system set up. Plan to charge at home most of the time except when I travel. Need to learn more about near by charging stations
