California will ban the sale of new gasoline-only cars starting in 2035. Govenor Gavin Newsome made the announcement today.
I love that someone is finally making a stand on this. No surprises that it's California. Used car lots are going to benefit from this when it happens.Wow.. I never thought I'd see the day. 2035 is still a long way off though.
This will drive EV sales for sure!!! Although I bet by 2035 almost all new cars bought in California will be EVs anyway.
Newsome might not be around to enforce it but if there's a state that would see something like this through it's California. An interesting counter-point here.
Essentially, it's not likely to happen. (I don't buy it)
That's true but I do respect him for acknowledging what the future is going to look like, rather than ignoring it and sticking his head in the sand like others do.Nothing like legislating the inevitable. This would be like a governor in 2000 declaring the end of the sale of CRT TV's by 2020.
