Doug DeMuro finally got his hands on the R1T to do a full review on it. He gave it a score of 73 out of 100. It's the best pickup truck he's reviewed and one of the highest scoring vehicles he's ever reviewed.
We have a Model 3 (naturally, with no Carplay) and an ID.4 that has Carplay. I much prefer the infotainment system on the Tesla over Carplay. Carplay is great on a rental or a car you only use occasionally as it will port all the information from your phone, however, for my main car, I would prefer an integrated system that works seamlessly with the car. If Rivian can get close to what Tesla has, I will be perfectly happy without Carplay/Android Auto.good review. score would have been higher there was apple car play and android auto support. Are you listening Rivian!
I do agree, but in the case of satellite radio, that is subsidized by XM, hoping to hook you into a subscription. Kind of like Tesla and Rivian with the first year premium connectivity play.I think where Rivian and Tesla have been a bit tone-deaf is in regards to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Lets face it both Tesla and Rivian would be considered premium/pseudo-luxury products. In Tesla's case, you have to fork up $10 per month for premium connectivity in order to get things like Spotify integrated, and live trafic. Rivian is also pushing a subscription plan. The vehicle is expensive enough as it is. The least both companies could do is offer their premium connection services free for the first year, similar to all the other car maufacturers, or luxury brands do this with Satelite radio.
The 1 year premium connectivity is no longer offered. In fact I believe you may get i think 3-6 months of premium connectivity if you ordered the White interior on the 3 or Y. Unknown on X or S... Tesla has taken a lot of the freebees and nice to haves away. In fact no more complimentary 1000 miles of super charging, and no more referral credits unless its Tesla Solar.I do agree, but in the case of satellite radio, that is subsidized by XM, hoping to hook you into a subscription. Kind of like Tesla and Rivian with the first year premium connectivity play.
