Congrats to Rivian for getting these Enduro-powered trucks (and hopefully SUV's) off the production line and soon out the door before the middle of the year!

The dual-motor option with the Large pack should end up with more than the 340 miles of est. EPA range that's showing in the web site. I'm thinking closer to 350 which makes the base dual-motor a very, very attractive proposition with the large pack IMHO.

Just curious...
As I recall, the dual motor configuration employs new in-house Rivian motors. So, they're in production already.
Are the current production quad-motor vehicles still being made with the Bosch motors?
That was one of my reasons for sticking with the quad-motor. I felt it was "proven reliable" and I didn't want to be a beta tester for the new motor.
Anybody know?

The Rivian team celebrated another major milestone this week as the first customer Dual-Motor R1T rolled off the line. The launch represents passionate effort across every function of the business, from engineering to supply chain and software development.

These vehicles feature Rivian's in-house Enduro drive unit which began production in our commercial vans this February. The launch of Dual-Motor unlocks additional production capacity on the R1 line, as our Quad-Motor vehicles continue to ramp.

"I'm unbelievably proud of what all our teams have accomplished. Introducing our Dual-Motor variants is a major milestone in ramping our facility to its full capacity, and they have done a great job working across so many functions to make this happen.”

Tim Fallon, Rivian VP, Manufacturing Operations

I haven't heard of any changes when it comes to the quad motor models. Given how important resources are these days for production I don't think Rivian is going to change anything. If they do change it I imagine it'd be at a later date once they get things going smoothly with the dual motor vehicles.

No,I haven't heard anything either but I'm concerned about a "midnight modification" similar to the Meridian Audio switcheroo. I don't recall that being much ballyhooed either. I just feel better about the Bosch motors at this juncture.

I notice that the brake caliper is grey, not yellow. I also notice there isn't any yellow accent on the Rivian lettering on the side door. I wonder if they are doing that for the dual motor vs. the quad motor to distinguish them. Has anyone heard anything?

Yeah I definitely get that. But I still think that if they do switch it for the quad motors it will happen later. Especially depending on the deal they have with Bosch.

It's possible. Or maybe it's going to be an additional option to change the colors?

Congratz to Rivian for getting a new type of R1T configuration off the assembly line, but I would rather see another R1S from 5000+ Pre-orders folks who are still waiting two plus years for their vehicle

Live Life As Nature Intended... R1S Pre-ordered: 04/21: Compass Yellow, FE Interior+Warm Ash Wood , 21" Road Wheels, Large Pack.
Current ETA: was Aug-Sep '23, now "Processing estimate". First Mile Drive: 01/03/2023, Access to R1Shop: Denied 04/23.
2nd First Mile Drive: 05/04/2023, 2nd & 3rd R1Shop Request: Denied 05/23 (tried twice),
Confirm configuration email received & Guide assigned: TBD, 8 Steps: TBD, Delivery: TBD
