Haha, you're right about the bad roads. The specialist was great, really patient, answered all my questions, let all 3 of us test drive, push it, etc.
Since we already have a Tesla, the truck so so similar in a lot of aspects that would normally confuse a first time EV driver, or specifically items unique to Tesla (and now Rivian). For us all that made sense and was easy to figure out (vents, steering/mirror positions, brake pedal to turn on, shifter stalk, etc).
The truck looked a lot bigger than I was expecting. I guess I pictured the older smaller Tacoma's as comparison, but I forget the newest Tacoma's are not that small anymore either. We test fitted parking the truck into our garage and it definitely is significantly larger than the Model 3. But thankfully it still fits just fine...just a little tighter in the garage.
A few things which the specialist wasn't sure on and hopefully will be a software update is to limit how much the frunk opens. We will be backing the truck into the garage and there didn't seem to be a way to set a limit on that. And without that, if we open it by mistake while the garage door is open, it will smash into the door above.
Also they don't have location based ride hight yet, which will be nice to have for me when pulling into the garage and having surfboard on top. If the truck doesn't lower to the lowest setting, it will smash into the garage opening. I don't even know if it will clear with it lowered, but this one didn't have racks to even test it out.
Everything else was just what you expect from watching all the youtube videos. It drives amazing, it's super quick - feels just as fast as my Model 3 Performance....but just in a much larger/heavier vehicle. It's a beast! I liked the different driving modes which changes the ride height and stiffness. I forget the exact name but the performance/sport mode makes the suspension a bit too harsh but that's probably what you'd want if you're really driving it hard...I just don't see myself doing that in a truck. lol
All in all, it was an awesome time to get to drive it...but the heart ache to see it leave...knowing it will be a long time before I get to have one delivered.
