Opportunity here to discuss use of Rivians in first responder and public safety operations (police, fire, EMS, emergency management).

My Rivian will be outfitted as a Quick Response EMS vehicle (POV, non-department owned) with a volunteer fire company to response on EMS assist calls in our township.

Are any fire, EMS or police agencies looking into purchasing either Rivian model for their department?

I believe the fire department in Contra Costa County California purchased two, but from what I recall they are not used as emergency vehicles but rather by the department's PR.

It will be interesting how much Rivian will integrate vs third party modifications for police cruisers and emergency vehicles for Fire and EMS. Many chief vehicles are various SUVs and trucks, but full size where police cars are generally midsize. Both the R1T and R1S would fit there roles well with the A/T 20" tire setup. Just have to build out the government sourcing process and fleet management platform (probably something they are planning/doing on the EDV).

The post above is correct, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District has purchased two Rivian R1T's. While they are not frontline vehicles assigned to shift positions like a Battalion Chief, they are assigned to Chief Officers that respond to incidents. We are currently working with Rivian and third party vendors to install Code 3 packages with radios, a command box and UAS support. More to come when they finished.
