Not just a "very strong chance" - it's an absolute certainty that Rivian has sold several thousand more than Ford as of 1 Dec. To beat Ford they would only have to have sold 1,000 R1T in the past two months, but we know that the production rate has been more like 2,000/month for the past two months. While you can quibble that some of that has been R1S, there's no doubt that the past two months of production have resulted in more than 1,000 R1T.

I think what Ford is saying right now is a flat-out lie that they know to be a lie. BUT given Ford's capacity to ramp up more quickly than Rivian, this statement will probably be true by the end of Q1 or Q2 of next year. Fake it until you make it ...

They are just trying to play off the "America's best selling pickup truck for a 1000 years running." Its all a marketing ploy. Notice how Rivian has never been given official as the worlds first electric pickup truck?!

Regarless of who produced more trucks in 2022 the numbers produced are minuscule in comparison to backlog of orders for both Ford and Rivian.

These days, Toyota is also in the news, and other manufacturers' CEOs are also thinking of a new strategy to stay in the market. The industry is changing, and it's like Fuel Vs EV: Which is better?
EVs have helped save bills, have no air pollution, and have a huge market. With the launch of the Tesla Truck, it will be interesting to see what other manufacturers will do.

Don't the Rivian production/sales numbers also include the EDVs for Amazon?

Yes. We know the number of EDVs was at least 1,000. But that's only a small fraction of the R1T production and doesn't affect the extrapolation of # of R1T produced up until 1 Dec, so Rivian is still something like 3,000 R1T vehicles ahead of Ford as of 1 Dec. I might also point out that FORD doesn't know the exact number of R1T produced either, so to state that they have definitely beaten that number is also little dishonest.
