I just took delivery today and checked this. Mine did the same thing. However, my delivery person showed me the trick was to simply push harder until the final latch catch and viola! I'm not sure if this is the same thing you all are experiencing, but mine are working as expected once I was shown the proper way to close them.

I believe that everybody is talking about the interior plastic "doors" that you step on when the gear tunnel is open. The have a single latching point and if the First Aid Kit or compressor kit are not completely flush the plastic door platforms don't sit down flush. Is this what you are describing also?

Properly stow the gear in the bags, make sure they fit, close the cover and make sure it latches- all the way.
It’s a flimsy door - poor design. The spare tire door latches work better after pure silicone spray… and standing on them or at least a hard push. And while you‘re at it spray the door seal so it opens easier- mine would not pop up on hot afternoons until I lubed it. I used KEL silicone spray, be careful to get a dry silicone so it doesn’t attract dust/grit.
