I've changed my Gearguard setting to only record while away from home but have found that it is too sensitive and will start recording based on motion as far away as 50 yards. I parked at a restaurant facing a highway that was at least 50 yards away and when I returned I had over (50) 30 sec. videos. All but two of them were of the passing traffic. the other two were of people who'd Parked near me. One was in the next spot, totally legitimate, the other however was from the slot 2 away.
I'd like to adjust the sensitivity if possible but can't seem to find anything. It may need to be a service ticket whereby I get to suggest a change through the OTA update process. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, GearGuard is "not great" for me. I park in a parking garage at my office and I'll often come back to the truck and find hundreds of new videos. I've skimmed through them and I can't figure out how the logic works for saving a video... Some are just a car driving past mine... But then it often doesn't record vehicles parking or leaving the spots right next to me. Somehow a person walked within inches of my vehicle, gets into their vehicle, and pulls out of the space and GearGuard thinks that isn't worth capturing... But a car that drives quickly past mine several FEET behind it will be retained.

I hope Rivian is dedicating some resources to improve GearGuard. It should detect people and prioritize recording those events. It should also consider distance and the closer something is to the R1T, the more important it is to record it.

Also, when you do have so many events recorded, finding the one you're interested in is quite tedious. They should look at how Ring doorbell UI works. It would be nice to see a timeline that I can "scrub" through, with perhaps visual cues on the timeline indicating when motion was detected. Perhaps a representation of the truck (top-down view, perhaps) and visual cues showing where motion was around the vehicle.

I agree. I get lots of vehicle traffic videos that are not near the parked Rivian. My Eufy cameras have an option to detect "all motion" or "human motion only". Something like that would be great for Gear Guard. And Eufy also lets you set the motion sensitivity (1-10) and set motion zones.

To your point, last night my R1T alarm triggered twice... While my truck was sitting in the garage. After the 2nd alarm trigger I got in the truck and discovered a moth flying around inside. After escorting my invader outside the truck the alarm stopped triggering.

If a moth can trigger the alarm it's probably more sensitive than need be.

The most annoying to me is the alert you get when you get back into your car. I'm ok if it records all these videos but stop pointing this out each time you get back into the car. My tesla records the same kind of videos but does not alerts you each time you get back into your car. If something happened while the car is parked, I know where to find those recordings.
