Californian officials are proposing a bill that would have its Energy Commission “assess the uptime of charging station infrastructure”. This move to increase reliability of public EV charging stations should ensure charging access is equitable across all communities.

But it only applies to chargers that have received incentives and only apply for a period of six years for chargers installed after the bill's Jan 2024 effective date. They're also working on ways to increase reliability with existing chargers.

I think this is an excellent move and hope to see similar approaches done elsewhere.

Is there anything specific about EV charging infrastructure you would like to see improved?
