Electric pickup trucks are here to stay, but that doesn’t mean they are perfect at doing their ICE brothers’ jobs. Towing, especially, takes a heavy toll on the battery and usually cuts the range in half. Towing in freezing temperatures adds even more strain.

To be fair, towing my Airstream with my RAM 1500 halves its range as well. It’s just that there are fuel stops every few miles so range is not a concern. As the charging networks improve this will become true for EV’s, too. Hopefully, the amount of time it takes to recharge the battery will also improve.
