As we continue to ramp R1 production, we'd like to update our R1S preorder holders on the progress we're making at our plant in Normal.

We are scaling both the R1T and R1S as fast as possible without compromising quality. We know how important it is for all of you to have better clarity on your R1S delivery timing and that many of you are making plans around your delivery windows. With this, we are working through supply chain challenges and the ripple impacts on our production ramp up that may affect some of the delivery windows we previously communicated. Much like we did with the R1T, we are focusing much of the early R1S production on employee deliveries to ensure the best possible ownership experience for everyone from day one.

Over the next two weeks, we'll share delivery windows with R1S customers who have updated delivery timing in 2022, or who previously had windows in 2022 that will be shifting later. For all other preorder holders, expect updates on your delivery timing through the end of summer. As we have communicated before, delivery timing is dependent on many factors including delivery address, configuration and preorder date – we are working to provide as much clarity as possible understanding some of the challenges with supply chain predictability.

We’re grateful for your continued support. Let us know if you have questions.

Tony Caravano
Head of Rivian Customer Engagement

thanks

This is not surprising considering their lack of communication and being unable to hold up to any of their previous statements of when to expect updated delivery estimates. I’m ready and have been ready for my Oct-Dec ‘22 window to slip well into 2023 with my OC interior preference. But if it’s a 6mo+ wait for it I’ll be switching to the black interior instead. Even if they say it’s ~3mo it can very well turn into 6mo+ at the rate their estimations are going.

Just got the email as well. I’m an Oct’20 R1S preorder with white on black interior in AZ. The November delivery window email was July-September 2022. Have yet to be contacted by a guide, so makes me think I’m pushed at least 6+months to 2023

I received the same (standard) email message. I have a R1S launch package and thought I was on the very early side of preorders. I had a June-July delivery indication in November. I have no idea what this is trying to tell me.

I just got a window update today. Limestone, Forest Green Interior. Previous window October - December 2022; new window November - December 2022. Would be curious what configurations move things up or down, and what shifts other people have seen. Mahalo.

R1S launch edition preordered Nov 2019. Launch green, forest edge interior, located in GA. Previously May/June, then just last week told June/September. Just got the email that I’m now Oct/Dec. I anticipate 23 is likely at this point. I assume my location is the biggest factor.

I just got two emails. The one stated in this thread and one for my updated delivery window. I was April-May, I’m now Oct-Dec for R1S in south FL.

Seems like Rivian made their deadline for following up with their communications this week on updated delivery timelines!!! Nice!

Just got my email for a R1T Adventure Package Glacial White with Forest Green Interior now expected in October/November this year. Buffalo, New York. (March ‘21 reservation.)

And looking at RJ’s new factory tour video, it appears that exterior color has nothing to do with build timelines as they can easily change from one car to the next. Assume same thing applies with interior colors except for white.

I’m in GA also. Ordered Feb 2019. Was May-June, now Oct-Dec.

Agree. I chatted with them today to see if region or any other spec besides interior (like wheel choice) would affect delivery timing. They said no on options, but hedged on the locale question. The new update arrived shortly after.

Got my emails today. Was getting excited as my delivery window was june/July. Now pushed off until Oct to Dec 2022. Order is launch edition R1S el cap with 22" rims and switched to black interior from OC. Initially set on OC but really ok with either. Just seems like everything I'm almost there, the goal line keeps getting moved back. Very disappointed. In Tampa with original order of 4/20.

Pre-order Oct 2018, R1S white on white. No idea yet when to expect it. We did get our R1T delivered 2 months ago though in Raleigh, NC. The R1S was to come in May 22 however as we will stick to the white on white, this probably will be in the fall.

Sounds like everyone with an order will have a good estimate of their delivery time by September. Four months from now Rivian, and every other mfg, should have a better idea of how the supply chains are doing recovering and ramping up to demand. We've seen improvements over the last three months and if that is consistent over the next four months mfgs will have a clearer picture of future production.

I'm optimistic my R1S 2/20/2022 will see delivery the end of 2023, perfect for tax deduction.

Also hopeful that Rivian is willing to barter on options for faster delivery. I'd drop the four motor for the two motor if that will speed up delivery. I think the fewer motors and less weight would also get better range.
