Michigan House Bill 6233 effectively died in the Michigan Senate making way for automakers like Tesla, Lucid and Rivian to proceed with the direct-to-customer vehicle sales model. This is a massive win for us as consumers. I bet other states not already onboard will now after Michigan's decision.

Dealers are fine but not essential. It is time we change the process and move to a direct model. For more than a decade (easily) I have been researching pricing online. Understanding what every options, package and associated costs were. We can find invoicing pricing, compare deals and buy a car out of state to ensure we pay the least amount money possible to get what we want. Reality is the dealer concept has shifted so drastically that we just need to all accept that it won't come back and the direct sale model is the future.

Exactly.
This shift can be a win-win. Get rid of the menial work and arm dealership folks with more info/tools/resources to better serve customers.

But who will step in to try and sell us thousands in unnecessary add-on extras during hour #3 of the process at the dealership?
Too bad it took Elon Musk and Tesla to challenge the sales model we've been stuck with since the beginning.

Come on guys. We all know that we’re too stupid to buy a car on our own without being passed through 15 different people at the dealership - each trying to extract more money from us. Our government (aka Detroit lobby) is simply trying to protect us from ourselves! 🤮

With dealerships becoming obsolete, who will hold our hand now?
