The CFO never said that all price protected orders would be delivered by the end of the year. You guys read entirely too much click bait.
You right. It was stated they would all be competed by mid 2023, so not the end of the year. Sometimes it’s best to keep quite and let everyone think you are doll rather than prove it
Similar reports were made by multiple other media outlets as well…
Did you actually read what she said, rather than reading click bait on a Tesla fan site? She didn't say that. Some Tesla bro said that.

If you read garbage sources you're going to come to garbage conclusions. The actual statements by the CFO do not say this so perhaps you should read what was actually said. And read what she said before and after that, so you will understand the context in which she said it.

No, she didn't say that either. That is even further from the truth and is just made up entirely. Again, read what she said. Listen to what she said. She never said anything close to that.

If you have any interest at all in knowing what was actually said, rather than just parroting disinformation you found on the internet, I went into more detail in

You make it sound unreasonable to believe information that was shared by multiple outlets contemporaneously with the event being reported on. When I hear/see a story about cities in Ukraine being hit by Russian missiles, I don’t think I need to jump on a plane to Eastern Europe to verify it before I trust that the reporting is accurate and form an opinion. It’s very possible that the comments were being repeated in an echo chamber of misinformation, and if so, folks will learn that the multiple sites publishing the information cannot be trusted. Whether they made the comments are not, Rivian didn’t do anything to dispel them, even when directly contacted by customers in advance of the delivery date updates being released on Friday. At the very least, the company’s line should have been something to the tune of “we are aware of the reporting that you are referring to, and the comments being attributed to the CFO are not accurate. We are holding tight to our delivery projections and have not committed to prioritizing the production of every pre-price hike order at this time”. Instead…those of us who reached out essentially got “no comment”. Unhelpful at best and a huge missed opportunity to set the record straight as these boards have been a buzz with this issue for weeks. I do plan to seek out the full recording of the CFO’s comments directly from BOA.

I am not an investment analyst or anything of the sort. As such I am not up to speed on all of the terminology. But I believe the following snip relates to price protected orders. If it does, it looks like the CFO said they expect these "charges" to continue through 2023 and into 2024. If I'm wrong and LCNRV does not correlate to price protected orders, please let me know. As I said, I'm not an expert on this.

Claire McDonough - "... Gross profit for the fourth quarter was impacted by a lower of cost or net realizable value, LCNRV, adjustment.

As discussed in the past, the LCNRV adjustment breaks down the value of certain inventory and records losses on firm purchase commitments to the amount we anticipate receiving upon vehicle sale after considering the future costs necessary to ready the inventory for sale. As of December 31, 2022, LCNRV was $920 million as compared to $95 million as of December 31, 2021. These charges are expected to continue through 2023.

However, as we reduced cost of goods sold per vehicle by lowering material production, logistics and other costs, we anticipate that the total charge will decline. We forecast reaching positive gross profit in 2024 and therefore expect by the end of 2024, we will no longer have material LCNRV inventory charges and losses on firm purchase commitments associated with the production at our Normal plant."

I don't understand what the CFO said or didn't say... But I can tell you... I'm getting mighty pissed off that I'm still waiting for my R1S. To make matters worse, the wife wants the third row so badly for carpooling that she's threatening to go out and buy a Grand Cherokee L instead. oh dear...

Oh my! How long have you been waiting and are you a launch edition? I’m non-launch…waiting since Dec 2018, so you’re not alone.

Didn't you just place your reservation last year? I mean, I understand the frustration, but considering the reservations opened in 2018, and they just started delivering R1S at the end of 2022, I think your impatience is a bit unjustifiable.
justified or not, I’m pissed.

Sounds like you should cancel your order and buy something else. If you're unable to patiently wait and getting angry, you have already spoiled the experience.
Nah I'm good. Just venting. It happens.
