Hi Jeff,

As our production continues to ramp up, we want to share new information that affects your Rivian preorder.

Vehicle base pricing and the cost of certain options, upgrades and accessories have increased. All packages of the R1S will now only be offered in a 7-seat configuration.

We’re in the process of updating your Rivian Account page to reflect these adjustments and we will send you an email notification when the update is complete. Until then, all product and pricing updates can be viewed in our configurator.

These price increases — the result of inflationary pressure on the cost of supplier components and raw materials across the world — will allow us to maintain product excellence as we continue investing in electrification for our shared future. We remain committed to offering compelling products and helping drive competition, inspiring as many drivers as possible to switch to electric vehicles.

To that end, today we’re also announcing the introduction of Rivian Dual-Motor AWD for both R1T and R1S. Dual-Motor AWD features one motor for each axle for exceptional power and control. The system is designed to excel both off-road and on-road, going from 0-60 mph in as few as 4.0 seconds while still delivering all-wheel traction. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2024. We are also introducing our 260+ mile range Standard battery pack, with deliveries planned to begin in 2024.* Dual-Motor AWD and Standard battery pack are available now in our configurator, where you can find more information on each.

We’re grateful to you for being an early supporter of Rivian and helping drive the EV movement towards an enduring and livable world. If you have any questions about your preorder, we’re here to answer them.

Thank you again for being on this journey with us.

Yup. Just got the same one. Arg, seven seats only?!?
And a $12k price jump. Not unexpected, but still a bummer.

The price went up significantly too! Note that it says that our preorder pricing will be updated. Are they going to make my $78,500 R1S cost $90k+ and force the loss of the tax incentive? This might force me to cancel unfortunately. That is effectively $19k higher when tax incentive is lost

Welp my current R1T configuration just went up about 13k. Haven't decided yet but I'm quickly losing interest...

In fact more than that. Each paint sample (other than grey) is now extra. It’s getting ridiculous.

I knew the price would go up, but a ~20% price increase is going to drop a lot of people (likely including me) off the pre-order list.

Don’t forget that it will no longer qualify for he $7500 tax break, so it really went up $20k

Yeah entirely expected with supply chain nonsense. That definitely rules me out now. It was a hard enough sell for a truck I inarguably do not need. Anyone want to buy a "June/July" LE preorder slot for $10K? :ROFLMAO:

My quoted price previously was $75,820 for an R1S and after going through the configurator to get the same vehicle it's $92k. A 17k increase is not inflation - it means it wasn't priced appropriately to begin with. Add-in the new 'option' for a dual motor which is positioned as a great new option but in reality it just means they are now charging you more for the quad motor which was previously the only option. This feels like a gigantic bait and switch. I may be losing interest at this point as well...

This is an act that they clearly can’t avoid. I suspect that the supply chain costs are a leading driver, but that a side benefit is kicking orders out to 2024. I am so disappointed

Does anyone know for sure if the LE prices are going to be the same as the new prices in the configurator? Isn't that just speculation at this point? I find it hard to believe my $78.5K truck will potentially jump to $93.5K, but if it does, we have been really baited for a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time to be switched like this. $15K increase is no joke!

100% agree - the pricing was insanely low. Be nice if they can stick with one price for a lengthy period going forward - unlike the constant Tesla price change news cycle.

BBB hasn't passed, so I don't believe there is a upper price cut off at this time. So should still have the 7,500 tax break...for now.
My configuration is till 80k on my R1T (same as yesterday). Maybe mine isn't updated yet? I will be sad if I have to cancel.

Did that $80k price limit go through for this year? I'm trying to look for confirmation on that.

I am sure they will update existing pricing soon, but if you go into edit you configuration you will see the price change real quick

Yeah.. mine went from $82k+ to $100k+ For the same configuration. That’s probably past the order cancellation threshold for me
