Plans for a Rivian Off-Road Racing Team could push for the development of an R1T Baja Race Truck.
In recent years, electric vehicles have been showing up to compete in races like the Baja 1000 and the R1T could be next, if Rivian founder & CEO RJ Scaringe decides to establish a team to join this competitive desert race, using a beefed-up version of the body-on-frame "skateboard" architecture of the production pickup (shared with R1S 7-seat SUV).
If it happens, you can expect to see specifications similar to rigs already built to compete like an aerodynamic body, beefed up production architecture, safety cage, up to 36-inches of suspension travel and beadlock wheels on Baja-tough tires.
Hopefully, it still retains many aspects of the production pickup, the 180 kWh 'megapack' capable of 700-horsepower being one of them, which could inspire the creation of a Baja race truck for the road. Ford did it with the F-150 Raptor.
If Rivian built a road-going version, how much would you pay?
