The off-road upgrade comes with this reinforced underbody shield, but do Rivian models without the upgrade still come with it?
You most certainly don't need it for fire roads, even for modest rocky stuff. If you plan to tackle Jeep trails I would recommend it.Anyone have thoughts on whether the $2K reinforced underbody shield is necessary if the extent of planned off-roading will be mainly forest service type roads? Anyone also confirm that the addition of it reduces range?
From the Rivian site just now:Anyone have thoughts on whether the $2K reinforced underbody shield is necessary if the extent of planned off-roading will be mainly forest service type roads? Anyone also confirm that the addition of it reduces range?
We skipped it too. We do a fair amount of off road driving in the summer but with the added clearance in the off road setting we figure we’ll be fine & don’t want the weight. To save 319 lbs, I will skip the Reinforced Underbody Shield. Wait... how much does the regular non-reinforced underbody shield weigh?
