SOFTWARE SPOTLIGHT: PET COMFORT
Unleashing a new creature feature for the R1T and R1S.
Our most recent software update includes a feature built specifically for traveling with the furrier members of your family.
To activate Pet Comfort, press the paw icon in the upper right corner of the main climate control screen before you leave your vehicle. If your Rivian has more than 50 miles of range and is in Park, you’ll be able to set a temperature between 68 and 74 degrees Fahrenheit, which the vehicle will maintain while you’re gone. If no temperature is set, your R1T or R1S will automatically keep a cabin temperature of 72 degrees. Once Pet Comfort is engaged, our Gear Guard character will also pop up in the center display with a reassuring message to let passersby know your loyal companion is safe and comfortable inside. Pet Comfort is only designed for your pets. Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle.

As one of the most customer-requested features, Pet Comfort is the latest example of how software updates can continually improve not just the R1 driving experience, but numerous safety and convenience features as well. With each software update, we will continue to add new capabilities, evolve our UI and enhance our existing features.
Here's what you need to know about
Pet Comfort.

What it does
Maintains a consistent temperature in the R1S and R1T cabin to keep your pets comfy and safe while you’re away from the vehicle.

What it does to the vehicle
In addition to deactivating the cabin movement sensor and temporarily blocking any over-the-air software updates, Pet Comfort uses the center display to let anyone passing by know the feature is active. Once a driver exits the R1T or R1S and closes all the doors, our animated Gear Guard character pops up with a message announcing that your pet is safe and comfortable. The screen also displays the current cabin temperature along with the set point. Opening any door will disable the center display message, but the feature will re-enable once all doors have been closed as long as it’s still on and no one is in the driver’s seat.
Owners can check the current status of the Pet Comfort feature via the Rivian mobile app and will receive notifications when it turns off, if the vehicle range becomes critically low or if the cabin temperature gets too hot. The feature will run until the battery is completely depleted or the driver turns it off.

When to use it
Whenever you need to briefly leave your pet inside the vehicle when the outside temperature is uncomfortably hot or cold. Pet Comfort can be turned on by pressing the paw icon again in the main climate control screen. You can also deactivate it by turning off climate controls entirely, turning on defrost or defog, turning on heated seats, or exiting Park.

When not to use it
If your R1 range is below 50 miles, you won’t be able to use the feature until you’ve recharged. Pet Comfort is only designed for your pets. Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle.
