Before the price increase I kept debating with myself if I wanted to spend that much money on a car; I was definitely out once they jacked up the price. Now that they brought prices back back down; Rivian almost guaranteed me buying as I can't walk away from a $17k discount.

I never canceled, but this brief episode led me (and maybe many other reservation holders) to start exploring potential alternatives to Rivian’s R1S. Now, as a long-time Volvo owner, I‘ll be closely tracking developments for Volvo’s 2023 Embla EV to be assembled at Volvo’s South Carolina plant.

I too was a long-time Volvo owner and expected the R1S to be the successor to my aging XC-90 V8 Sport. When Rivian deliveries were delayed, I migrated to a Telluride and have been very impressed with Kia engineering. The EV-9 is a fair way off, but could be a worthy competitor in the BEV battle. I will certainly be looking at other alternatives as well and as noted, am very partial to Volvo. The caveat is that the BEV needs to be capable of towing my teardrop for at least 175 miles before needing a recharge.

While I took a wait and see approach, and did not cancel my Rivian reservation, the price increase would have been more than I can handle. The affair has however left me with a very sour taste and more importantly, makes me question Rivian's management ability.

The reaction from the Rivian pre-order holders was entirely predictable and it is laudable that Rivian has taken steps to rectify things. That Rivian can say with a straight face that the negative reaction caught them off-guard is troubling however. Is it the case that management is naive and incompetent? Or is it that they are simply devious and calculating?

I thought about cancelling cause O thought it was a big jump for already a very expensive truck but once RJ put out that letter it maid me realize this guy cares amore about his future clients then Wall Street...... yes this will hurt the stock price short term but if they can add a few other products to the line up down the road the company will be fine and a great investment long term! Keep up the good work ( NO ONE SAID THIS WAS GOING TO BE EASY )

Like many of you, I was not happy about the price increase and am very happy for the rollback to original pricing. Do I need the R1S, no. Do I want the R1S, yes please! I really like my current DD, a Cayenne GTS, but I feel like a young child waiting for Christmas but not knowing when it will be except for "soon". I desperately want to see one in person and drive one preferably my own:)

I to don’t have to have this R1T but it’s like a new toy… I want it! I own one if the best cars in the World a Porsche Cayenne and love the product but one electric all purpose vehicle would be priceless

The survey is somewhat skewed, in that I had not yet cancelled my order as I was attempting to let the dust settle. I did, however, immediately contact Rivian customer support to express my dismay as a preorder holder and as a stockholder -- stating in no uncertain terms that if the price increase were not walked back for existing preorders then I will sadly be severing my ties on both fronts. Which is all to say, if I were to factually answer this survey with "I kept my reservation to begin with" and without more color, then folks may be drawing the wrong conclusion, as there would be no chance that I stay in the game and take delivery if the price hikes were to go into effect for preorders. And I'm guessing there are others out there with a similar mindset who did not immediately cancel.

Well said and I am 100% agreement. Makes you wonder what other screw ups are just around the corner?

If he cared about his clients (thats us) he would. It have aproved the price increase in the first place.

easy..? Try ridiculous hard. No one but Tesla has been able to succeed in the US except Tesla. And Rivian is not Tesla.

I was going to cancel, but decided to give them time to realize how much of a mistake they were making. I applaud them for responding quickly. I knew my reservation was not a guarantee of the price, but it did feel like a stab in the back given the amount of increase and the fact that we did have to put up $1K unlike Ford & Tesla's $100 deposit.

In all honesty I actually feel better about going with Rivian now than I did before (Cybertruck delays/changes and Ford's questionable Dealer pricing give me less confidence right now).

I was order R1S and I would like to keep it... it is worthful in current conditions..
1. Eventho they increase the price for R1S and it is worthful when compared with other Vehicles ,
2. Currently Gas prices is going day by day and Year by year...
3. R1T looks much better when compared with other trucks and I hope they do same kiind of build for R1S also.
4. Still R1S prices is 20 to 22% less than Model X price.
5. R1S looks like real SUV when compared with Model X /Y.
6. R1S and Tesla model X/Y are two vehicles gives more than 300 Miles..
7. R1S is more preffered than Model X/Y as price is less
8. It does have FED & State EV rebates.
I hope RJ will work hard and deliver R1S as soon as possible by overcoming supplychain issues.

Here you for comparision price etc.. thse may change time to time and also some of them already increased like Model Y.....
