Not only will Rivian's center screen be touchscreen, the instrument cluster will have a touchscreen as well!

I saw on Facebook that people have reached out to Customer Service and they confirmed it. I reached out myself to see if it's real and got the same answer! It's going to be interesting to see how Rivian will use this to their advantage.

Seems a bit impractical to me. Reaching around the steering wheel to touch that screen will, take, some contortions. Hopefully they put any important controls on it.

My Audis have a full digital instrument cluster but not touchscreen. Can't imagine doing that unless they mean on the sides that are outside the steering wheel for things like lights and such. Would be super weird to do while moving.

Ordinarily I would agree that having a touchscreen that is active WHILE the vehicle is in motion is a lawsuit WAITING to happen. Lawyers and bean counters run GM, FORD, and Stellantis now, and those groupstake a different approached to a vehicle. They are risk-adverse and money pinching . So a new start-up may not have learned that lesson.

On the other hand, GM and FORD seemed to be ripe targets for frivolous lawsuits which is why you will no longer see power express windows that go up in one touch on rear windows of any FORD and GM product. Meanwhile, my Prius has 4 one touch UP and DOWN windows because the Toyota lawyers don't run the show.
