I was not contacted. BUT if you log into your Rivian account, on the left side of the page there is a menu with icons. One of those is a calendar icon for "Events" - that icon had a highlighted "1" next to it to there was one new event.

Then, if you click on that icon you will find a form to sign up for a First Mile drive. I believe they will end on 4/29, so hurry and If you'd like to reserve a spot for a test drive in a RIVIAN. You can even sign up two others to attend the event with you.

I found the event announcement last night. They have confirmed my request via email today for a test drive on 4/21/2022, and they are bringing the vehicle to my house here in Vancouver, Washington for me to see it.

I hope other's may see this and have an opportunity also!

Unfortunately, no calendar icons on my account... I just talked with a Customer Service Rep and there are no plans (currently) for a similar event or access in the Seattle area.. :(

Huh?...I'm sorry that you didn't see an event notification on your account page.

Because my confirmation notice also told me I could find out more about my scheduled demo drive by following a link to customer support. When I clicked on the link, this message popped up:

"What can I expect during a demo drive?

For demo drive experiences, you’ll receive an invitation to schedule through your Rivian Account when the opportunity is available in your area. During your demo drive, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the vehicle’s acceleration, capabilities and interior features — including materials and in-vehicle navigation.
During mobile drives, you choose the starting point and we bring a Rivian to you. You’ll be guided by one of our Field Specialists through a vehicle walk-around followed by a 30 minute drive in your area.
During Venice Hub drives, you will have the opportunity to experience a Rivian vehicle on a set route, allowing you to explore a variety of vehicle features. We also have display vehicles on site with with additional configurations and accessories. Rivian team members will be available help answer your questions about charging, storage and more, before or after your drive appointment — just make sure to check our hours of operation and plan accordingly."

Clearly it says, "For demo drive experiences, you’ll receive an invitation to schedule through your Rivian Account when the opportunity is available in your area."

Does it mean, if you don't get an invitation through your account page than you can't get a demo? I have no idea...but if and when they do show up for an R1T for demo, I'll try to find out more if I can.

In the meantime, if you are a preorder customer from Portland, Oregon, it may be a good idea to keep an eye on the "events" button on your accounts page in the event that the heavens shine a light on you?

I had mine yesterday. I live in Beaverton. They brought an el cap with the black 20 offroads to my house. Had it for a little o er an hour. Drove for about 10 miles I woukd say. Rep was really nice. Learned they are building a service center in the nw yeon area. I was excited to learn that. He said there was alot of oregon orders. Said Bend had alot. Overall was a good hands on experience. Solid build.

"We're prioritizing invites based on preorder holder status and delivery timing."

Sounds like the idea is to make sure people close to getting delivery get a chance to drive the Rivian before buying which is how it should be. Fortunately we have enough Rivians getting delivered to PNW area to cadge demo rides from our fellow Rivaneers if we are far down the list.

Just FYI, I don't know if it's because I just changed my configuration (dropped the Max Pack) but TODAY I saw that the calendar had appeared on my Account Page and I was able to book a First Drive date on 5/3.
There weren't a lot of afternoon slots open (I don't need to get a substitute for this...) but I'll darn sure make a 3:30 work!
Pretty freaking excited to put hands on a truck finally!

Great news! Take some photos and be sure to tell us what you think after your test drive.

Welp, consider that rug yanked...
Got a call today from a nice woman at Rivian to cancel my First Drive.
Something about how they are working out some details with the state?!?
Anyway, perhaps it was a mistake to give me the chance this early (I don't even have a delivery date yet), oR?

Live in Camas, WA and just got my Rivian First Mile invite via email yesterday afternoon. Got it scheduled right away for this week at our office in Vancouver, WA. Exciting stuff!
The only real issue is the wait from this test drive to delivery of my R1T order from Feb 2022 will be very very long.
But I'm glad to be close to a Rivian Center in Portland for better service/delivery timing.

Well... I never received a confirmation email for my drive this morning so I called Rivian. They told me that there must have been some miscommunication and that legally they can not do drives in Oregon right now, whatever that means. So needless to say, I'm a little annoyed.

When they cancelled my OR drive a month ago, they said something about working with authorities in Oregon.
I got a call to RE-schedule my drive (booked for June) they asked if I could make it to the 'Couve (duh of course...)
Not sure what the deal is but I'm guessing there is some arcane rule about advertising for a car they can't legally sell through a dealer that makes testing in the state I expect delivery a no-go.
Not that the Oregon Legislature is sitting around bored but...can we do something about that? What dealership lobbyist has remained so successful as to prevent this truck from getting views here?!?
Anyway, looking forward to DRIVING the thing so my wait will be even more difficult for (X) months to come.
