For those of us on here that want Rivian to have a tank turn feature for the R1T and R1S, there's a chance that it might actually become a reality.

Autotrader has found trademark applications that were recently filed by Rivian for the term "Tank Turn"

Rivian IP Holdings filed one application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Novemebr 1st, 2019, and another one with the European Intellectual Property Office on November 8th, 2019. The trademark is classified for use with transmissions, steering units and motors on SUVs and trucks, the two filings indicate.

I don't want to get ahead of myself here but this is very exciting news

Rivian wouldn't bother if something wasn't in the works already. This is a good sign.
80% of pickups live in the concrete jungle so this feature will be HIGHLY valued.

Oh for sure, this could be huge for city city/suburb driving.
Rivian has Tank Turn and now GM has Crab Mode for the new GMC Hummer. It's impressive but I would rather have Tank Turn.

The Crab Mode stuff is pretty wild to watch.

Then there's the new K Turn setup. It sounds like it will be available on all models while I think the Tank Turn is only on some versions. And K Turn seems more suited for careful manouvers

My understanding is that the tank turn can only be done on dirt. Something to do with needing some traction slip.
