Rivian is now charging a base towing fee of $55 plus $6.50 per mile. That's insane considering how far a service center might be for some owners. This is just adding insult to injury.
Even if it's a warranty issue? If the truck is undriveable and it's a warranty issue, it should be covered by Rivian.Rivian is now charging a base towing fee of $55 plus $6.50 per mile. How is safety-compromised defined? If the vehicle can be -safely driven- then they will charge you for a service center visit. If it is inoperable, or safety-compromised, then they will absolutely tow it (round-trip) without expense to the owner.
I have a scheduled service at the new Austin Service Center on Tuesday. The service reps scheduled a tow from my house to the SC, a trip of about 40 miles, but did not mention any associated towing costs. I am anxious to talk this through with them. I will report back on my experience...
How long after your svc req was submitted was your appointment scheduled?I have service scheduled for a warranty issue. A warning that says service suspension soon. If it is warranty Rivian covers the tow according to the service advisor. I live 185 miles away. They said they would tow at no charge or I could drive it. My option.
About a week. I had to cancel and move it back another week because of a conflict where I was going to be out of town. The service advisor was pretty sure from the logs that it was a software glitch and there probably wasn't really anything wrong. I have about 9k miles on the truck. How long after your svc req was submitted was your appointment scheduled?
In my case, the warning came on less than 24 hours after delivery, and the appt. was finally scheduled for the svc center ~200 miles away for 31 days later ?!
(Due to an unavoidable last-second conflict I had to cancel the transport and the appointment and have to start the scheduling process over. Who knows how long it will take this time.)
