Rivian has started reaching out to people to schedule getting their wall chargers installed. Has anyone received a similar email?
To clarify my understanding is the electrician installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet which gets me 50A? Ideal is 60A? but that would require hardwiring the Rivian wall charger to the circuit correct? I guess my question is since the NEMA 14-50 is already installed what would the cost be to have the Rivian wall charger installed (hard wired)? I think I read somewhere awhile back it was like $500 to do so?EV newb here, so forgive my ignorance. I had a 220 outlet installed near my electrical panel in the garage. What will I need to do beyond this? I can plug and play with the included charger correct? To speed up the charging time though would I require a wall mounted Rivian charger and what does that install require if I already have the 220 outlet wired? Thanks
Also, anyone start receiving vehicles yet?
The Rivian mobile charger that connects to your NEMA 14-50 outlet limits charging rate to 30-32 amps (7.6 kW @ 240V), similar to Tesla mobile chargers that plug in to the 14-50s. It's important to ensure that the wire used to route from breaker to 14-50 outlet is of sufficient gauge to handle the anticipated current and that the breaker is no greater than 50 amps to protect the outlet/your house from fires. To clarify my understanding is the electrician installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet which gets me 50A?
