Do the trailer brakes work in conserve mode?
I have a question into Rivian on this - the online chat suggested that "it should work" but had no one to confirm. I would guess that it does, but would really like confirmation...
Can the Rivian switch to conserve mode, FWD and lower profile, on the highway? Just switch out of tow mode? Being more likely a tow vehicle, could see Rivian coming up a couple versions of tow mode.
I don’t know if you can switch. But I am hoping tow mode has more then just power and height.
does it have trailer sway and many other things trucks offer these days.
they should call it long range tow.
two wheel drive. Less horse power. Cool if you can get brakes on trailer helps with getting power back to battery.
Yes, you can switch and I echo Mikeygwl's thoughts on the matter.
Here is a link to a thread I've started on this subject - driving and towing in both conserve mode and in towing mode and the advantages of each. In summary, though, towing mode gives you access to setting the brake gain and manually testing the brakes whereas conserve mode doesn't. Towing mode seems to have a better suspension tune for towing - it feels like a really good combination initial bump sensitivity but more damping so the tongue doesn't bounce up and down too much. Conserve mode seems to use a little less total power.
While hooking up my trailer in all purpose or conserve mode before attaching the 7-pin cable I've been frustrated by what feels like a lot of accelerator input needed to get the truck out of brake "hold" and moving backward. The rear camera is at a really bad angle/height for hooking up and I've found myself running back to check the hitch/received multiple times. When moving just a few inches I'm worried that I'm going to give it too much accelerator and slam into the trailer. This
may be better in towing mode - I think it releases the brake with less input making this whole process safer. More info coming on that with more testing.
