I guess sand mode wasn't able to help them out this time 😅

I feel this is not so much a problem with the vehicle, rather it's a problem with the driver. It doesn't take bad equipment to get stuck, it just takes poor decisions made worse when you don't bring the proper recovery gear and when you literally dig yourself a deeper hole when trying to compensate for the problem. They are really stuck…. Sand is all about vehicle weight and tire volume. The rivian is not good in either department.
Yeah I think this is more of a driver error. It's been shown the R1T can handle the sand with stuff like the Rebelle Rally. Though parking the R1T in sand might not be the best idea.I feel this is not so much a problem with the vehicle, rather it's a problem with the driver. Well said. But also Not much room to air down with 20’s. Especially with high weight/HP/torque of the Rivian.I feel this is not so much a problem with the vehicle, rather it's a problem with the driver. My LX570 (land cruiser) has Crawl control. It’s pretty amazing and has saved me a few times. Once you are high centered though it is fairly useless.Rivian needs to OTA a crawl mode:
I believe you’re talking about Corolla. It is beautiful. I like to visit, but I wish they’d get better charging infrastructure. It’s going to be rough in a non-Tesla EV. I hope Rivian builds a RAN DCFC out that way. Rumor is they’re trying to get a site near Alligator River, which would be great. This looks like Outer Banks, NC. There is a whole residential development close to VA border that has no road, and the only way to get there is driving on sand on the beach. And one must know when the high tide is because the ocean comes onto the beach during high tides. So, to go to town to get groceries, etc., one must time it right to avoid high tide while driving on the beach. The houses there are huge and expensive too, and herds of wild horses left from European ship wrecks 400 years ago roam the beach. They are a protected species.
Nope, not OBX. That's parts north of here. Homes down here aren't craftsman style sitting on the sand. Every one is on pilings. My bet Jersey or New England. This looks like Outer Banks, NC. It's a CCS desert out here...I believe you’re talking about Corolla. It is beautiful. I like to visit, but I wish they’d get better charging infrastructure. It’s going to be rough in a non-Tesla EV. But heavy weight and narrow-ish tires should be great in snow — especially with snow tires. I’ll find out this winter. They are really stuck…. Sand is all about vehicle weight and tire volume. The rivian is not good in either department.
20'' wheels are the smallest wheels you can fit on the Rivian's due to the large brakes.I’m at fish camp this week. Filleted out 67 Sockeye for 135lbs of fish. Sand is super soft due to a drought. Oh and Pulled out a bunch of stuck trucks: three Silverado’s 2 rams, an f250, and a Land Rover new defender. Common denominator, all were on 20 and 21” rims with no sidewall to air down appropriately. Here is a appropriate tire wheel combo on my LX570: 17” rims 34” tire. View attachment 6985
And it was a stupid decision on their end if they want to claim off road ability. Until someone does a brake swap out to fit smaller rims.20'' wheels are the smallest wheels you can fit on the Rivian's due to the large brakes.
I guess it's because it takes big brakes to stop a 7000lbs vehicle safely? And it was a stupid decision on their end if they want to claim off road ability. Until someone does a brake swap out to fit smaller rims.
