Let me first say that overall I love the interior, the design language is beautiful, rugged, and luxurious. Overall they hit the nail on the head on so many levels.
As some folks said, seeing it in person and touching it may remove some of my concerns. For example, maybe the cup holders are more rugged than we think. Any way, here are my concerns:
- The pull out cup holders in my mind is a big design mistake for a number of reasons. It looks shallow and narrow (diameter). A lot of people have Nalgene style (wide body) water bottles and those definitely won't fit there (guess we have to put it in the door, like the pictures.. Its also going to be a pain to clean as opposed to a dedicated cup holder which is more like a tub (easy to clean). And most of all I'm concerned about the durability. Something you have to pull in and out means wear and tear. I've had cars in the past with slide out cup holders and they tend to wear down, may not completely break but get loose and lose its ability to hold cups/bottles properly.
- The empty space below the main infotainment screen. That space is intended to stow stuff which means its a point of conflict for both the cup holders and the 12v outlet. When the cup holder is being used, you're going to be hitting that when you pull your bag out. Same potential with something plugged into the 12v outlet.
- I think its a design/usability mistake to not have some sort of shade/cover over the drivers instrument cluster. Can you imagine the glare on that screen at certain times of the day? Maybe those that own a Tesla Model 3/7 can comment since those vehicles do not have a shade/cover over its screen.
- The USB connection behind the front seat head rests is cool, but the fact that there is a hanger/hook right below it is going potentially another point of conflict. I can see a child grabbing their coat and accidentally yanking out the cord or worse bending and damaging the port.
