It looks like they picked a great place to film a commercial. It never gets old seeing it on the road.
http://instagr.am/p/B5ENrYQheQe/In fact, there are two R1T units on this adventure: a white and a gray one. Even Rivian has shown them in action at this enterprise, as the video below shows.
These units have important changes from the first prototype that the company presented. For example, it has two charging ports instead of one. They are on both sides of the pickup truck. The rear doors also do not have fixed windows. The glasses retract entirely inside the doors.
We are not sure when the crew and the R1T units will reach Los Angeles, but it should not take much longer. The smallest distance between Guatemala City and Los Angeles is 2,674 miles.
They have already run about 7,600 mi from Ushuaia to Guatemala City, which indicates the trip will probably not take longer than a few more weeks to end. Probably before Christmas, so that McGregor and his team are able to celebrate it with their families.
Based on this earlier post it looks like LA is their final destination for the show. They must not be going all the way to Alaska with the LiveWires...But Rivian has never stated what their intended destination is...so who knows.
I completely fell for it lol, thanks for correcting me.Same pics (I believe from an Instagram post) were posted in another forum claiming to be of the R1T. The gray/silver one in the background, yes, but, as I pointed out FWIW the white one is the newly revealed R1S in white. It's less obvious with these pics as the one pic that had the best evidence of an R1S is not here (pic showed the roof line continuing beyond the C pillar). Here, if you look closely at the last pic (viewed from the driver front corner) you can see the corner of the rear hatch door in the open position. Plus, I've only ever seen that interior scheme on the R1S. ... None the less, pics of Rivian EV ... good!
I hope the port door is automatic like the Taycan.Looks like an original RJ Blue with a wrap based on the side mirrors, lowered suspension and a broken/missing charge port door. It also appears the DC portion of the CCS plug has a cover over it. I think the Taycan has something similar.
All vehicles with CCS ports have covers for the DC plugs, you leave it covered when charging on L2. If you are charging on L2 in rain, you do not want water getting in there.Looks like an original RJ Blue with a wrap based on the side mirrors, lowered suspension and a broken/missing charge port door.
