Looking at the standings, seems like driver skill is more important?

I think you’re right. I seem to recall looking at past rankings and seeing pretty different rankings with teams that drove nearly identical rigs.

It varies on the day, there are days where driving is key, and others when navigation/timing is more important. Both roles are critical since you don't get points if you don't make it to the checkpoints, and both are needed to make them. The Green checkpoints are big flags that can be seen for a long way, the blues are smaller flags or pins, and the black diamond ones are not visible at all. So, if your navigator can't find them, no points. If your driver can't get you to them, no points... so definitely a team effort.

Oh, and the Rivian teams had a great day yesterday and moved up a lot.

Got it. Driver AND navigator skills are more important than the vehicle. Hope the Rivians do not break down and yes, ERivTruck, hope their upper control arm mounting bolts are tight! LOL

Driver skill is most important in almost any motor race, given classes and similar purpose modded vehicles. Better vehicles with worse drivers only help in video games.

in Rebelle navigation is the most important, speed dosn’t really matter much. It is a points rally raid. Think of it like comparing orienteering to cross country running.

It looks like stage three has been a challenge for everyone.

The Rivian team got a flat but changed it in four minutes.

In an endurance race like this that's over multiple days, driver skill definitely plays a big role. Especially the longer that the race goes for.
