Rivian is getting some help from SAP SE to help take their production and growth to a different level. Which includes areas like "procurement, manufacturing, and supply chain operations enhancements."

SAP has worked with car companies like Honda Australia, Nissan, Daimler AG, and BMW, so this is a notable move by Rivian.

Here's what SAP wrote on their website:
WALLDORF SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) is helping electric automaker Rivian advance its production and growth capabilities with a tailored systems solution deployed across the company’s operational footprint. This includes procurement, manufacturing and supply chain operations enhancements for the rapidly growing business.

Rivian will begin producing fully electric pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles in 2020. To facilitate and enable its product development and procurement needs during the preproduction phase, the company selected SAP S/4HANA on SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to use for financials and procurement. SAP’s proven success in the automotive industry and ability to address the speed and agility demands of a company such as Rivian will allow the company to start small and fast while retaining unlimited growth potential.

“Over the next few years, Rivian and the automotive technology industry at large will continue to transform rapidly and significantly,” said Greg Petraetis, SAP North America’s head of Mid-Market and Partner Ecosystems. “The company needed a foundational ERP system in place that would support it well into the future, allowing it to both grow and pivot when the industry changes. We’re thrilled Rivian chose SAP as a partner.”

To further support its production and growth, Rivian will continue to work with SAP to increase transparency and traceability across the global manufacturing process, while improving efficiencies and delivering visibility across Rivian’s network with real-time information.
