I see no need to dilute the brand or their vehicles at this point in time. Price cuts and/or rebates is a negative death spiral for any auto manufacturer.

Rivian’s are not overpriced, would make no sense to cut prices.

You can configure a dual motor large pack R1S for 84k, the entry level Model X after price cuts is still 25k more at 109k.

Rivian's only real direct competition is Model X (notice, no price cut) and F-150 Lightning (price increase). I just looked at the F-150 Lightning trims last night, and the XLT with the small battery and some ADAS upgrades is roughly equivalent to R1T with 2-motor and Small Pack, and they are both about the same price, ~$70K. Rivian will reduce prices when competition forces them to. Cybertruck may or may not happen in 2023 (and will certainly not be at the "teaser" price). And Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 7 aren't until near the end of the year, so I don't see any scenario where Rivian would need to reduce prices until 2024.

For R1T I was using dual-motor, Standard Pack at $73K as the baseline. The Standard Pack range is comparable to the F-150 baseline battery. The F-150 Extended Range Battery ($12,500) is fairly comparable to the R1T Large Pack ($6,000).

I'd say the the Lariat to get leather seating, extended range, the tow tech and 360 tech packages which is $89k is comparable but in you are getting a bigger truck at all levels and Ford provides a lot ot tech like auto gates etc. Rivian does not.

The XL looks to delete the tow tech package if you add Co-Pilot 2.0 to get dynamic cruise. Only way I could get all the tech and the tow was upgrade to the XLT.

Could add the options to the XLT but ended up at $86k vs.$70k of R1T or $75k for R1S. Ford does provide a lot more like the 7.6kW power outlet and bigger bed for slide in camper.

Negative. Tesla is going for the mass market they are the Volkswagen beetle of the 2020s. Rivian is a whole different animal and doesn't have the capacity to meet demand. Tesla on the other hand is increasing production by 50% annually.. Tesla is practicing predatory pricing trying to drive competition under before it even get started. My guess say adios to Ford.
