Here's our best look yet at how the GMC Hummer EV looks next to the Rivian R1T pickup.
Likewise with the F-150. Same height but its width seems to sit just under the Hummer. They are closer in size than most people think. The Hummer is wider, but other dimensions are much closer.
I'd love to see a head-on view.
Honestly, there are features with the Hummer that make we wonder if it'll be the better vehicle to actually live with, on a daily basis (CarPlay, better phone integration, physical buttons -- especially screen brightness, for example). The size is what scares me most about it, however.
There will be only 1200 of the Edition 1 Hummers made during 2022 according to an interview with the GMC CEO. Rivian should have no problem surpassing that total by a huge margin in 2022. That is unless RJ Scaringe and his manufacturing team are far more incompetent than we can imagine. The Rivian is the perfect Goldilocks Truck, but, despite being first to market, being a new company still figuring out how to mass produce means that Ford & GM will likely have 20,000 Trucks in driveways before Rivian does.
I am in a similar situation. I have three vehicles ordered: Ford Maverick (non-EV), Rivian R1T and the Hummer Pickup. No idea when either of them will be delivered 🙄I love the Hummer. The only reason I likely won't buy it is because of how wide it is. Just not practical for my use and daily driving needs. That's where the Rivian hit the nail on the head. The F-150, for the same reason as the Hummer being too wide, is too long for my daily use. The Rivian fits. My only problem will be, if GMC sends me a notice to place my order and I still haven't heard from Rivian with some type of a delivery estimate, I may not be able to resist. I've wanted an EV truck for so darn long, can't take the wait anymore. Might be, who can put one in my driveway first wins. All three are great offerings. Welcome to the forum. Smart strategy with how long and uncertain things are currently.I am in a similar situation. I have three vehicles ordered: Ford Maverick (non-EV), Rivian R1T and the Hummer Pickup. No idea when either of them will be delivered 🙄
I did only after I ordered those three. Was in the market for a mid-size though but of course the Hummer is not in that category but oh well!Welcome to the forum. Smart strategy with how long and uncertain things are currently.
Did you consider the F-150 Lightning as well?
The Hummer is hard to pass up on. Are you at least going to put its crazy towing cap tow work if you end up owning one?I did only after I ordered those three. Was in the market for a mid-size though but of course the Hummer is not in that category but oh well!
Absolutely not. Don’t tow much at all.The Hummer is hard to pass up on. Are you at least going to put its crazy towing cap tow work if you end up owning one?
Since the rear wheels do turn as well, it should feel smaller than it actually is on city streets. The Hummer is such a wide truck compared to the R1T. I'm really curious to drive one and see what it feels like.
Reviews have shown it has a very small turning radius, relative to large vehicles.Since the rear wheels do turn as well, it should feel smaller than it actually is on city streets.
At least according to Doug DeMuro, the Hummer rides very nicely thanks to its air suspension. He didn't state specifically how it compares to the Rivian. He only stated that it's the best riding truck he's ever driven, which was after he reviewed the Rivian. I had the pleasure of briefly driving the Rivian, it has a great ride with its air suspension. I think both will be competitive to each other in terms of ride quality. This is where the Ford could fall behind. After having lived with a Tesla Model 3 versus the Raven Tesla Model S's air suspension, I've committed that I'll never own a traditional springed vehicle again. Night and day difference. Plus, the luxury of adjustable ride heights is great. The Ford will lack that option as well. The Hummer is such a wide truck compared to the R1T. Interesting. Can't wait to find out the actual numbers and to test it out in challenging situations.Reviews have shown it has a very small turning radius, relative to large vehicles.
