I'm shopping a roof top tent for over the bed and considering some sort of hardshell if I can find a good fitting one.
My concern is accessing the spare if I need it, I'll be travelling alone and don't know if it will be possible to get the tire out? ... anyone have any info on this?
I'd hate to be stuck in a bad situation.

I'm in the same boat. Haven't decided on a tent yet. I will say the crossbars will make it tougher, but not impossible. You will end up dragging, rather than lifting the spare out. I know you have your R1T, but wasn't sure if you have crossbars yet. Hence the pics.
