They found too many people waiting until after the new year on the lower priced models for the new Federal Tax Credit. This is a better deal for anyone waiting as it lower tax and registration costs as well, especially here in CA. It also lowers the ongoing registration renewals.

I have an order on hold for Model 3 and they've asked if I want to take this deal. It's tempting but I don't really need the car right now and I'm wondering if there is even better features/pricing coming next year with the rebates that is causing them to try to clear these. Maybe not, but I'm on the fence still...

If you are planning on buying next year I would probably take this deal, especially if you are taking a loan and/or live in a state that has sales tax and/or the registration is based on purchase price.

For instance in California you would save another 800 or so on initial registration and probably 40 or so a year after that on renewal for the next 10 years.

Yeah I’m trying to balance the best deal but also considering possible changes that may be worth waiting for. I feel like it’s worth a slightly higher price, if by waiting until later next year I can get some big changes. If I’m wrong oh well…

I did hear there is potentially going to be a model 3 refresh coming soon. I haven't really seen any details on what all will be different but if you're not in a hurry it may be worth the wait. I do think the offers they have right now are great deals though.
