Did everyone get this? I received this also, but I am out of state and closest location for me would be NYC... I would probably go if invited, but not sure what sort of radius they have in mind yet.

Yep, got one also. I'm 400 miles from Normal, IL (closest of the locations listed) -- over in mid-Michigan. I would gladly drive to Normal for an opportunity to see and test drive. Not sure if I will be considered for Normal or if they will wait until more locations are available.

Can I test drive a Rivian vehicle?
We'll be offering demo drives so you can experience Rivian vehicles for yourself as soon as COVID-19 health precautions lift and it's safe to do so. In the meantime, take a closer look at the R1T and the R1S inside and out.

What can I expect during a demo drive?
At our tour events, you’ll have an opportunity to drive on-pavement and off-pavement and experience vehicle acceleration, ascents, descents and light rocky sections, providing you with a well-rounded drive experience.

We’ll also have a number of different configurations and options present for you to explore. You can expect tour events to last about two hours including a 15 minute drive experience highlighting vehicle performance.

During a mobile drive, we you’ll experience a Rivian with guidance from of one of our Field Specialists. Mobile drives consist of a vehicle walk-around followed by a 20 minute drive.

For both tour events and mobile drives, you’ll receive an invitation to schedule through your Rivian Account when the opportunity is available in your area.

Can I bring a guest to my demo drive?
Absolutely! You can add up to two guests on your reservation to join you and your Drive Coach at your First Mile experience. Make sure to add them to your reservation in your Rivian Account prior to your scheduled appointment.

If bringing children, a parent or guardian must be present to sign the experience waiver and provide booster or child seats in accordance with state law.

Can I bring my own accessories to test on the vehicle?
We'll have R1Ts equipped with Adventure Gear including Cargo Crossbars and various mounts.

We ask that you leave other accessories at home for the safety of our guests with the exception of booster or child seats required for passengers under the age of 12.

Can I reschedule my demo drive reservation?
We understand that things come up. You're welcome to reschedule your First Mile reservation at any time through your Rivian Account before the event, pending availability.

What COVID-19 safety precautions is Rivian taking?
Our staff will be wearing masks and we ask that you do too.

Masks are required in both in and outdoor areas regardless of vaccination status. To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, we ask that you remove your mask only when eating or drinking.

This includes our Drive Coach who will be in the vehicle to guide you through your drive experience. Our drives will be held with a partially open window configuration, based on studies that Rivian's Environmental, Health & Safety team performed to develop a comfortable and effective setting which increases cabin air exchange while driving.

Additionally, appointment times and other space considerations have been made in order to ensure appropriate social distancing. Our staff will be cleaning all vehicles in between drives, high traffic areas & surfaces, as well as touch points in accordance with CDC best practices. Please be sure to follow event staff instructions and other messages while attending the event.

Rivian employees will be sanitizing all common touchpoints and surfaces that have been in contact with a customer. Event participants will be subject to a temperature check upon arrival.

If you or anyone in your party has tested positive for coronavirus in the past 14 days or are currently experiencing or have experienced within the last 24 hours any of the following symptoms, or have been contacted by a contacted by a public official and determined to be in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, then we ask that you refrain from attending the event at this time.

Symptoms include:
  • Fever or Chills
  • Fatigue or tiredness; muscle or body aches and pains
  • Nasal Congestion or runny nose
  • Dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Nausea, Vomiting, or Diarrhea
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • New, unusual, or long lasting headache
In the event of an outbreak, Rivian has protocols in place to contact individuals who might have been exposed to an individual with a positive test result.

Is Canada included in the demo drive program?
First Mile experiences will be available in Canada during the first half of 2022.

Any updates on this?

I received the original email in August, but assumed "this month" meant September . . . its the 9th already & I haven't heard a peep about an event in the SF Bay Area. I am a fairly low order number (Feb 2019) and about 20 miles South of SF so fully expect to be part of this areas drive sessions.

I assume that an event like this takes some planning, so you'd think dates and locations (more detailed locations) would be sorted out by now?

If anyone has gotten anymore information, other than the original email, it would be great.
