Hi all,

I am finally (supposedly) getting my R1T! I’m a December 2019 preorder. I was given my VIN four weeks ago and completed all of the purchase steps three weeks ago, but the schedule delivery step is still locked as Rivian is still “preparing my vehicle.” My guide refuses to give me any sort of ballpark estimate for timeline. All I’m told is that my R1T is still being transported by rail to Salt Lake and then it will need to pass inspection at the service center.

What was the “preparing your vehicle” timeline like for others? How long did you have to wait until you were able to schedule delivery?

I've heard of waits anywhere between 3-6 weeks. Mine took 3 weeks. Keep looking at your emails, it will suddenly be ready! Worth the wait.

I was told this week it has shipped already and therefore hoping it arrives this week.
What vehicle do you have? I was just at the service center yesterday and there are quite a few vehicles in the lot, not to mention likely more inside

Cool! Fortunate that you were able to get your shipping via truck. I wouldn't be surprised if you received yours before I get mine! I have an R1T. I originally ordered the max pack battery, but after being told it would be another year, I opted to go with the large pack battery. Did you just walk into the service center to check in on your vehicle?

On 11/17 my Guide told me that my truck was "being prepared for the transport phase" and that it could take a few weeks to a month

Now I am sitting on my hands trying not to spam e-mail my guide about when it might be here, lol.

I cruised by the Atlanta service center Saturday to see if I could spot it, but the only white one I saw had the 20" dark wheels. Mine has the standard 20" wheels with all terrains. Maybe mine was inside getting inspected....

Pretty pumped but the each passing day seem so long now. Hopefully I will get an early Christmas present!

It sounds like our experiences are nearly identical to this point. I will post back here when I get an update. It is wild to me how little transparency there is with shipping timelines. I can track every shipping detail for a $5 Amazon box across the country, but not an $80-100K truck!

I’m in the midst of completing my 8 step process on an R1S. I’m a bit confused about the insurance requirement. I don’t know if my R1S will be delivered in 2 weeks or 2 months yet they expect me to have insurance before they will let me know s delivery date? Was that the same for each of you? I’m not crazy about paying for insurance now if the car isn’t coming until late February.

The 8 steps are not really sequential - you can complete them in any order. You just need insurance in place before you accept delivery. When step 8 opens up for you and are given a chance to schedule delivery, THEN you can tell your insurance company to start your insurance on the delivery date, and then you can print out a proof of insurance card to show upon delivery. I think what I did was put the R1T on my insurance right away just so I could upload my card and not delay the 8 steps, but I told the insurance company that the start date for that vehicle was two months in the future. That way I didn't have to start paying for it. When I finally got my delivery date I simply called the insurance company and changed the start date.

Oh, same goes for payment - don't pay too early! Get your funds/loan in place and ready to go, then don't wire the funds until the day before delivery.

Be prepared to wait maybe 4 weeks from the 8 steps opening up until you can schedule delivery, and if you get a loan make sure your offer is good for at least two months from when you get the 8 steps. Some deliveries are quicker, some take longer, but about 1 month is typical. You may get lucky and get yours sooner if Rivian is pushing to meet its end-of-year delivery quota.

I did my 7 of 8 steps today (12-7-2022), all at once. I took their financing so that I dont waste time with credit unions or banks. Same with trade-in, my current car will go to carmax/carvana or listed on Cars & Bids. Insurance can be added closer to delivery, I only uploaded the ID for my current vehicles. The day count begins today, let's see if they can deliver by 12/31 in order to get the tax credit.

Update on my end. My R1T was delivered on Saturday 12/10! Exactly one month from the date that I completed the first six steps of the purchase process. I received a text on Friday 12/9 from the service center to schedule delivery and got my truck the next morning. I had decided to finish step seven (payment) earlier that week to avoid that slowing down delivery and I’m glad I did. Could not be happier with the truck!

Oh man, now you have me excited! I think I got my configuration confirmation Nov 9th and the Steps opened up around the 14th. Haven't completed my payment page yet, but that is on purpose. Based on your experience, I might have it by the end of the week! Fingers crossed! You have any pics bringing it home?

Just got my delivery e-mail. Picking up Tuesday the 20th at the service center. I am going to be checking it over really well as I really think they are trying to boost their numbers and push as many trucks out the door before the end of the year. Hoping everything goes through fine, but I have other vehicles I can drive if something is amiss.

That makes about 12 weeks from configuration confirmation to delivery. About five weeks from the 8 steps opening up to delivery.

Had to move my delivery back one day due. No one's fault really. Just the reality of financing and using an outside lender. Was able to secure 5.49% at BofA versus Rivian's 6.16% from JPMorgan. So I had to do a little leg work on my end to finalize things. Guide was helpful, but you can tell they are swamped right now. A month ago responses were swift and precise. This week, slower to respond and have to catch them back up on your specific situation. In the end the process to pickup was relatively smooth, although it did feel a bit rushed. Appointments lined up all day for the delivery specialists. Did not get a great chance to look all over the truck, but it seemed ok from what I could see. Steering wheel seems just a hair off center, and a couple of the panels don't have great gaps, but I will bring that up later. There is a small rattle coming from somewhere in the driver's door that is a bit annoying. But being a Jeep person and having many, odd noises don't bother me anymore, lol. Struts on the spare tire compartment seem a little slow and not strong enough, and the passenger side latch really takes some force to get it back flush with the rest of the bed.

All that aside, here's to many miles and smiles with the new truck! (Notice the driver side rocker gap under the gear tunnel. Hopefully can get that fixed)

I got my forrest green on 12/17, so just 10 days for delivery.

Same here. Took delivery 10 days after I first got the notification that my 8 steps were open. Reservation was made in Sept of 21: Glacier white / Adventure / Large battery / quad motor and my delivery window wasn’t until Feb/Mar of 2023.

Got the 8 steps notification on Dec 12, Completed them within a day or two - did not trade in a vehicle and financed through a 3rd party - picked up today at the Denver, CO service center (yes, I’m 30 min away so it does seem location > reservation date).

Whole process was incredibly efficient and smooth; to the point that I really thought something was wrong/missed because it was so easy - it seems like they are hitting their stride.

After changing from a max pack to a large pack this morning they sent me the 8 step email less than 2hrs later. My purchase docs show sales tax in the final price. Has anyone else seen that? With all my previous vehicle purchases I have paid sales/excise tax and at the time of registration.

Yes, that's how they're doing it. Rivian registers the vehicle for you and pays the sales tax directly to your state.

Same here. I am actually in Lindon so I think mine will probably go to SLC as well. I put my deposit down in November of 2021. I got access to the R1T store a few weeks ago, and found one super close to my orginal configuration so I pulled the trigger. I completed all 7 steps including payment last Friday, and it has still been crickets the last 5 days. One good thing about getting the new configuration is that the few things I wanted that it didnt have I can add later, and it actually put my purchase price just under 80k so I should qualify for the full EV $7500 rebate. I'm okay waiting another few weeks if that is the average time between payment and delivery, but I'm constantly checking my email in excitement for news!
