Tough Decision on Color

I'm debating between these 2 colors, the Black/White has a certain sporty look once the c-pilar is deleted. The Compass Yellow also looks fun but will I still like driving a yellow SUV 5 years from now, I typically keep my vehicles for 7 to 10 years and this is the plan with the R1S. Thoughts.

We are in the same boat except with different colors. I was on CY for a few months, but asked whether I would still like it in a few years with a color similar to school buses and taxis. So, then we have varied between the Rivian Blue to Black to Limestone to Red and back to Limestone. For now, it is Limestone. I love yellow, but think the novelty and enjoyment of the color would wear off in about 3 months.

The Compass Yellow wins by a wide margin. Unless the car's parked in the sun all the time, which is the case for me ... I would get compass yellow but it will fade in the unrelenting CA sun, so I'm getting silver which is boring but we already have two white cars ...

Funny you mention that. One of the pictures that I saw for an R1 T showed it in the bright sunlight, and I thought it was dull. But, that could just have been a trick of the lighting. A good ceramic coat may prevent some of that fading if one were so inclined.

I like the Compass Yellow a lot, my SO not so much. We've tentatively compromised on Red Canyon. We've had our share of grey cars and presently have a Glacier White Pearl Telluride, so are trying to a bit bolder in our choice of color.

I haven't yet been able to see a Rivian in RC (or CY for that matter) in person, but am trying to arrange for that. Depending on how that viewing goes, it may cement the color choice, or it may move us to something else like Forest Green.

Great to hear @sciencegeek. Everyone says that the photos don't do RC justice and it's easy to see how that might be so. I'm hoping that the MD service center will open soon and give me a chance to see Red Canyon in person. Apparently, RC is not a terribly popular color anywhere, and downright rare on East Coast, at least at the Brooklyn SC. I'd like to avoid a trek to Brooklyn anyway which is 125 miles of unrelenting traffic and a small fortune in tolls, taking nearly three hours of your life away in the process.
Can always wrap it in any color you like so I wouldn't stress too much.
All the colors look awesome in person and I don:t think there is a "wrong" color. I have a white diesel full size truck, so the CY S is great contrast.

Our S is currently getting matte PPF which I think will make the yellow a little less loud. At least here in Midwest it is least popular color so I like having a more "rate" Rivian even if some think it looks like school bus.

Which color is"RC"?

Why would you get a color that's as big and bold as CY and make it less "loud"? Shouldn't get it in the first place. I don't understand this mentality.

I agree with this. I'm not a wrap your entire truck to change its color after spending $90k+ kind of guy. But from my limited understanding of wraps, they can pretty much wrap your vehicle in any color you want. So, if you're into that sort of thing, why not just get a silver R1T (no extra charge for paint), take the $2,500 you saved on the upcharge and put it toward the cost of wrapping the vehicle to change its color????
IMHO, the colour makes a statement or sometimes the opposite. White and Silver are more subtle and blend in. Black is sinister/edgy. Yellow is bold and loud. I know the Rivian may draw some attention despite the colour but I went with Silver to blend in more and be easier to clean. Hope this confuses you even more.

You know this is one of my thoughts. I could save the $2,500 and wrap the entire vehicle CY if I still want that color but I'll have time to decide. I also thought I should stay with the 21" wheels, save the $3,500 upcharge, buy my wheels and tires aftermarket and I'll have two sets of tires which will last me longer. I hear the tires wear out fast because of the vehicle's weight. Any thoughts?

The boldness of the CY is what attracts me to it so I wouldn't want to make it less bold. I've never seen it in person but I'm hoping it comes close to the Ford Mustang Mach E yellow. Can anyone who've seen it in person tell me how close is it to the mustang.

I think it’s a little more muted that the Mach E. Maybe a little more mustard. I like it better. I think CY also looks way better in the S that it does on the R1T. The black roof and the black bottom sandwich the yellow.

I ppf'd to protect more than change the color. The matte helps to soften the yellow a bit. It will still stick out, it will still say "hey there" without shouting with the gloss.

If I may ask, how much will it cost to wrapped the whole vehicle. I'm thinking of getting whit and wrap it CY which I can change if I get tired of the color.

Full 3m matte pro with wrap around and 3m ceramic window film for front, side and rear (no roof) total was $5,890.
