I’ve just ordered an R1T and I’m thinking about what kind of charger to use. I currently use a NEMA 14-50 outlet for my Tesla, but I’ll probably want to upgrade to hardwired 60A circuit for full speed 48A charging now.
Unfortunately the Rivian wall connector manual states that installing without a licensed electrician voids the warranty. This really pisses me off, and I wonder if this is actually enforceable. Here in California, a competent homeowner is allowed to do basic electrical work like this without license, as long as you get a proper permit.
I’m curious if there are any better alternatives on the market? I’m especially interested in API control from Home Assistant, as I would like to adjust the charge power to match my excess solar production.
