If you are from the West or Southwest, introduce yourself and share details of your 2022+ Rivian here.
We own a Tesla Model S that we purchased in 2016. We certainly looked at getting a Model X to replace that but the combination of Tesla's choices around the interior of the vehicle (I'm not a fan of the minimalist layout of the Model 3/Y that they have carried over to the Model S/X as well as them forcing a new steering wheel format on us) and the poor service we've received lately from their service department has led us away from Tesla. Which is too bad, because we love our Model S. It is just starting to show it's age a bit.
We wanted to stay with electric and wanted an SUV or Crossover. I think the new generation of manufacturers (Rivian, Tesla, Lucid, etc) that treat the car like a modern appliance (over the air updates, adding software features, etc) have it right. The Fords, GMs, Audis, etc are making great cars that are hamstring by the unwillingness of the manufacturers to bring their processes into the 20th century.
All those things combined to lead us to the Rivian R1S. We're super excited about it and really hope it lives up to the expectations.
