Why not? Although as I've seen some on Turo specify - I think not allowing off-roading and maybe even having speed limiter set (maybe max 80mph) would not be a bad idea. With the prices these go for per day, I would imagine at least you won't typically get a young kid thrashing the thing.

Most rental companies unless they specialize in off-road specific rentals, do not allow you to take their cars off-road, even if it's a vehicle made to do that, like Jeep, etc. I've seen a few Turo ads for Rivian and they specifically say off-roading is not allowed. And people are renting them. I think most are the ones who are interested in purchasing and want to know what it's like to have one for a few days.

That's why I never park in a garage. It could get wrecked, stolen, scratched, breathed on wrong, a pigeon could shit on it... Who knows?!

Huge NOPE for me! I was that guy renting cars back in the day with the full coverage insurance for a reason... I work too hard for the toys I have to let some jackhole F it up. Plus the replacement cost/time is 100% unknown and not worth the risk to me.

Turo is well insured. which doesn't save you from the headache of having to do things like get repairs/cleaning if anything does happen. But that doesn't happen every time and your not sol if it does.
Personally if I needed to rent a trailer for a day or buy something from home Depot, I'd much rather rent one of the few electric trucks on the road. I have also personally used Turo to try out the Polestar. It was a really great test case for me to see what is really like to live electric for a few days.
My plan is to rent my Polestar on Turo once it arrives. But who knows, I might feel really differently about it once it's actually in my possession.
My sense is that the folks who are excited about a Rivian and know what it is are going to be more respectful than your average '80s movie valet. That said, I did see one YouTuber say they don't rent jeeps anymore because people love to abuse a jeep. Do you think people will love to abuse a Rivian?

I would actually contemplate listing mine for weekends, but I don't live in an area where Turo rental would be popular enough. I'm over an hour from PDX and it's hard to compete with renting a truck from Home Depot for $20/hr for short hauls.
I use Turo a lot when I travel. One gal I rent from every time I go to NOLA always has the brand new hard to get vehicles. She buys them just to Turo and has anywhere from 5 to 10 cars at any given time. I've chatted with her about clients a time or two and she says generally, a higher tier car will give you higher tier customers. Most trashers aren't going to pay $150+ a day for a car. Rented the Mach E from her last time I was there. Had over 15,000 miles already. Looked new still.

I don't think people are looking to rent an EV truck on Turo for a home-depot run. I imagine these rentals would fall into one of three categories:
- Potential buyer who wants to see/feel/drive/experience it.
- YouTub/TikTock-er who wants to do a "review" but can't get a press vehicle.
- YT/TT/Rando who wants to trash something they don't own. (see recent Tesla "jump" video).
Yeah I know, I was just saying, that's about the only use for rentals around here.
