The Rivian factory applied PPF on my gear tunnel appears as if a it was applied by a 10 year old on five cups of coffee. I can't imagine paying Rivian to install more of it when they evidently do such a poor job of it.

They aren't doing it (thankfully as mine is equally as bad). It will be done by an Xpel shop local to you.

All - I researched this a little further by calling two of my local authorized Xpel installers. According to them, the $1500 package is for a 5 year warranty and that the edges of each sheet are not "wrapped around". Instead they are cut like puzzle pieces where there is an edge exposed along each seam. Ask your installer what is the cost differential to wrap the edges and provide a 10 year warranty.

Having had multiple vehicles covered in various PPF I would never have this done without having all edges ‘wrapped’, regardless of the fact that the prices quoted are excellent.

Also, can someone who has the truck tell me, are the A pillars painted black and metal or are they part of the front windshield? I got a quote to wrap the A pillars and over the top of the cab to just before the glass roof, but I could not remember if the A pillars "existed".

I had entire front end of ours done for $1600 with Xpel, plus mirrors and door sills, full wrap around edges, etc.

Nice, I'll probably go there then since I'm in San Diego too. Who tinted the windows and did they do a good job? I can't stand when tint places don't line the film right up to the edges of the window (many leave a gap). I have a shop that does great job, but if they can do a discount on PPF if I get tint as well, I'm willing to do both there.

That's just the way the light hit the factory tint, I have not added any tint. But I am pretty sure they do that too. Talk with Austin or Evan, tell them Brian Goodwin sent you. We have done at least a dozen vehicles with PPF with this crew over the last decade, happy with the results every time and nobody seems to be able to touch them on price.

I think most cars have some tint from the factory on rear windows, it just may not be enough to be obvious. In the Rivian it is most obvious on the LARGE window over our heads, which has a lot of coating to cut down on heating of the interior. Here is my 2020 Ridgeline. Again, that's factory tint on rear windows and it just gets more obvious with more angle but that's as it came from Honda.

Spoke with a local shop here in PA. They were unaware of the Rivian program until yesterday and are not yet sure on if they will participate. They said the front package which is what I was asking about, is a templated kit that does not wrap the edges, and while the same material will have half the warranty of the non-package films. Their price for the front with edges wrapped (and I believe the lights, but I will have to double check) and the full 10 year warranty is $1750. I am going later today or tomorrow for a full quote on that package plus gear tunnel doors, tailgate upper panel, and maybe some tint.

Does anyone have a company they've worked with in the NorCal - Bay Area? I called around and got some pretty expensive quotes from a company that does Tesla wraps for about $5-7K.
