The base rims actually look better in the photo rather than the computer image/rendering online. I like’em! Might save me $1800 on the financing!

I‘ve seen some mention that there are inserts that may be removable. I’d like to see the 21’s without the inserts.

But the replacement tire costs may still be a good reason to avoid the 21’s, still.

@kbuicker it sure looks good in real world photos.

I believe this is the first time we're seeing the charging port in full. Great to see the entire area is illuminated, it will help a lot when charging at night. It also looks like the charge port door turns up and a bit back.

I'm trying to figure out how the Black rims cost $3500 more. That is some pretty expensive powdercoat. Sadly, I'm still getting them though.

Apparently, they aren't powder coated, but entirely different material. Could be marketing nonsense, but that's what I read somewhere. I am with you though. I did Rivian Blue with Blacked out 22" wheels. 🤤

I'm starting to wonder if that $3500 wheel is made out of forged aluminum.

Its what many other automakers use as a lighter and higher performing option.

There could be a difference in what they're made of but it's likely the same reason why most car companies charge for black wheels or trim pieces...because they can lol.

Pricing of them is proportionate to the rest of the R1S and its features. So although priced high, its an easier sell to us versus a cheaper segment. And the amount of members here that went with it goes to show!

Agreed, unless they're magnesium, no way would I drop $3500 for those. Otherwise I'm with 22 inches. I'm currently looking at aftermarket 22 inch light weight wheels.
