What do you all think about this owner's R1S "bricking"?

I am waiting for my R1S, and am doing my due diligence to know what to expect when I get it (or if it really isn't the vehicle for me and maybe I should cancel my order). I tried searching this forum on any comments, but couldn't find any about this:

(many other articles about the same guy, same problem).

So basically, this guy's R1S could not get through a couple of feet of snow. In trying to pull it out, he "accidentally activated a safety feature that resulted in the SUV getting stuck between the park and drive gears. It had become bricked." The owner had to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to get the vehicle out of the snow and delivered to a service center (Rivian did offer to reimburse for the tow to the service center).

I have several concerns about this, but the biggest one was Rivian's response - it wasn't, "oh, we will fix that (timeframe, what to do etc)". Instead, it was
"Rivian says that the R1S did exactly as it was designed to do in a potential slide-away situation". And nothing else.

This guy's R1S was not sliding away - Rivian did not respond to the actual problem at all, which was the R1S could not discern a tow situation from a slide away, nor did Rivian let owners know what to do in this situation (when you want to be towed/pulled). It's not like this is the first time an off-road vehicle has had to deal with this - why would you engineer a safety feature and not have the insight to know people might need a tow if they are off-roaders (and have proper instructions for owners/a disable switch)? Seems like you could put in a "disable switch" when you need a tow - or when using a winch.

Speaking of winches, has anyone put a winch on and used it on their R1S or R1T? How would navigating this "safety feature" that turns off your Rivian work if you needed to winch through a tough trail? TIA

I don't know about the "bricking" part, but as far as short towing or winching it seems it can be done.
