Wrote about my tonneau on another thread but will add a bit here. Cover was working fine for a couple months then started making a bad snapping sound as the last segment tried to stow. It stopped with the last segment still out. Had open/closed it a total of about 10 times.

I was having the truck in for other reasons so added a ticket about the cover. Talked to the Service Advisor in Richmond about it. He said they are not supposed to do any work on them as Rivian has already announced that a replacement will be coming. He did, however, say that they would take a look and see if they could do anything.

Could not fix mine. They told me it was toast essentially and offered to disable it in either the open or closed position. I asked if there was any way for me to open it if elected to have it closed but then needed do something in the bed. They said there was no way for me to manually open it. Further he said that if I did not disable it and it eventually failed in a partial open/closed position it would be stuck there until I could get it into the shop.

I elected to have mine disabled in the open position. Now just waiting to see when the new version will be available.

Still like the truck very much!
Mine broke on the day of delivery. Last I checked, the service rep put the new tonneau cover at second quarter of 2023 or later since the 2nd revision was also having a very high failure rate.

That sucks. Tonneau covers are nothing new. Seems odd that a vehicle manufacturer would have such common issues with such an item. Can't imagine what their warranty repair / replacement costs are going to add up to. Surprised it hasn't been solved by now as it appears to have been an issue since day one, years ago.

Hopefully they get yours fixed ASAP.
According to the latest forum poll on this issue. Only about 25% of owners experiencing cover issues which is pretty high but not as high as some had predicted (70-90% failure rates). It still sucks to have this issue from day one. I was very excited to show my new ride to many of my friends and colleagues but now I'm embarrassed to even drive it out : (
