The problem with this.....at least on Android phones......Is that if you have a widget setup on any of the home screens, as soon as you swipe back across that screen, the app relaunches. So, "killing the app" by hand, for me, would also mean removing the widget from a home page, and re-adding it later. Killing bluetooth also kills any audio streaming I have going, and the connection to my watch. This is a truck tech implementation problem that is quickly causing disruptions in multiple other work flows.
I've gotten used to PAAK, but still think it's far far far more sizzle than steak. It's a significantly higher degree of complication for something that can be solved with much easier tech. My Q7 was, IMO, the best solution I've used yet. Fob in pocket, you had to touch the vehicle to unlock it. The touch was built into the inside of the door handle, and would act fast enough and reliably enough that it would unlock as fast as you could normally pull the handle. Same with locking, just touch any of the outside sensors (one on each handle) and it would lock. Otherwise, there was no state change of the vehicle if I was nearby, or walking by, or in a marina, or had my phone on a shelf in the garage.
I understand the Bluetooth key is more secure than RF. I also understand that hidden handles are more aerodynamic. RF is fine if the car is only listening and the fob is only activated by motion (reference Audi implementation above). And we can't possibly think that flush door handles make enough of a difference in aerodynamics on something the shape of a pickup truck. The juice just simply isn't worth the squeeze here, and it's one of a few sources of agitation I have with the truck.
